948 Merkatua 2018

948 Merkatua (Navarre Arts Market) has a clear objective for its second edition in 2018: to ignite more forward-looking synergies to achieve professional and financial consolidation.

948 Merkatua has become a benchmark for the creative and cultural sectors in Navarre and the surrounding area. Many different professionals (producers, broadcasters, creators, gallery owners, artists, critiques, researchers and sponsors) and fields (plastic and visual arts, performing arts, publishing, music, audio-visual media, and other cultural and creative sectors) offered up their hard work and credit in the previous edition. Thanks to their combined efforts, 948 Merkatua has become a milestone event for culture and creation in Navarre, and the 2018 edition can now grow and expand its offer.

948 Merkatua is participating in previously established collaboration dynamics with the aim of deepening and expanding them. Shared projects forged in regions such as the Basque Country and New Aquitaine were already central to the previous edition, and this year these relationships will be brought even closer together with participation in contents and artistic offerings. As members of the Euroregion, these two Communities are the guest regions in the 2018 edition. 948 Merkatua is now considered the benchmark platform for conceiving and driving forward any other cross-border collaboration project.

Aligned with the drive to expand collaboration spaces, and as yet another update to this edition, institutional representatives have been invited from other Euroregions, as well as from other parts of Europe and the wider world. With this dynamic not only do we aim to position 948 Merkatua as an emitting space, but also as a host. It is an opportunity for attending delegations to discover first hand the drive of the arts and creation at the fair. It also gives all participating professionals the chance to get a close-up of the cultural reality of these other regions and territories.

The 2018 edition of 948 Merkatua, the Navarre Arts Market is lined up to inherit the excellent professional acceptance of the previous edition as its foundation to grow and improve as a public tool. As such, with the aim of providing a greater workspace for attending professionals, an extra day has been added, and the abundant list of collaborators has been expanded and consolidated.

948 Merkatua, the Navarre Arts Market, has two blocks of activity programmes:
●    PRO encompasses the group of activities aimed at professionals, and takes place in the Baluarte building each morning. It includes the stands area, conferences, workshops, project presentations, etc.
●    ARTISTIC includes all the artistic programmes that take place in different spaces around the city, which are usually also open to the general public, not just professionals.

The 2018 edition of 948 Merkatua Artistic has a selection of artists, creators and works from different artistic and creative fields, selected by professional artistic commissions. It will also give visibility to contributions made by the Basque Country and by New Aquitaine as guest regions.
