The objective of the plastic and visual arts section of 948 Merkatua, Mercado de las artes de Navarra, is to offer artists a series of actions that contain tools to improve the professionalisation and marketing of their creative projects. It also sets out to create a space for contacts with cultural stakeholders such as gallery owners, collectors, curators, programmers and representatives of cultural centres, and will be held on 21, 22 and 23 November.
The programme consists of a complementary series of actions aimed at the creative community. The professionalisation workshops will be organised by the Contemporary Art Centre of Huarte, the programme of Merkatua activities will be held in Baluarte, the viewing of pieces and presentations of projects will take place on the ground floor of the Sala de Armas in the Citadel, plus visits for professionals to the museums and music institutions of Pamplona such as the Museum of Navarra, the Museum of the Universidad de Navarra and the Jorge Oteiza Museum Foundation.
The Contemporary Art Centre of Huarte has organised a programme of micro-workshops to improve artists’ promotion and dissemination skills. These are part of the general programme of 948 Merkatua:
- “Legal, fiscal and taxation obligations”. 5 and 7 November from 16:00-19:00. Eva Moraga, lawyer, mediator and graduate in Fine Arts, will explain how to deal with everyday items such as budgets/quotes, invoicing, accounts or tax affairs. The aim is to contribute to the professionalisation of the sector with tools that are easy to us for all professionals, individuals and entities working in the field of art and culture.
- “How to prepare a good portfolio”. 12 and 13 November from 16:00-19:00. Mikel Cabrerizo and Lara Molina will give help on preparing a good portfolio as a way of disseminating an artist’s work.
The artists selected in 948 Merkatua will be able to present their work to cultural prescribers and stakeholders attending the fair in an area set aside for the purpose on the ground floor of the Sala de Armas in the Citadel. Each artist will have a small stand where they can display graphic, visual or projected examples of their work.
