Ainara LeGardon, Irún

SPEAKER

Ainara LeGardon (Bilbao, 1976) is a self-managed musician and artist with over 25 years’ experience. She works intensively in the fields of rock music, improvisation and experimental music and as a researcher and disseminator in the field of cultural management and intellectual property. She is the co-author, together with David García Aristegui, of the SGAE essay: “The Monopoly in Decline” (consonni, 2017) and is presenting her latest disc, Ainara LeGardon (2017), created together with the musician and producer Xabier Erkizia.

SYNOPSIS

Fifteen years ago, when she realised she had lost control of her ability to decide about her own work and to control her rights, Ainara LeGardon decided to set up her own record label and self-manage her musical career. In her talk, she condenses the experience of over 25 years and shares the tools that are available to artists to manage their own careers, with particular emphasis on encouraging the collective questioning of what work involves.
