A law graduate from the University of Zaragoza and a doctor in European Union Law from the Institute of European Studies of the Université Libre of Brussels, Borja Álvarez is a member of the Higher Corps of Civil Administrators of the Spanish State. He has held the post of Deputy Director-General of Promotion of Cultural Industries and Patronage of the Spanish Ministry of Culture and Sport since 2017.


The value in the market of products and services is increasingly determined by their originality, singularity, performance and appearance. The labour market demands creative workers with good communication and problem-solving skills. Cultural and creative industries are a strategic sector nowadays, both because of their inherent worth (they employ more than 8.4 million people in the EU and account for 4.2% of its GDP) and their cultural and symbolic value.
