Interdisciplinarity conquers the creative impulses of artists and creators. Nowadays, more than ever it is about creating from multidisciplinarity, the hybrid, the heterogenous. But, what is this interdisciplinarity? There is probably not a clear definition and, like almost everything in the cultural field, it is debatable and subject to nuances. Here we are proposing an initial debate that helps us to clarify and delimit this concept, on which the programme of the 2019 edition of 948 Merkatua is based.
Maria Ptqk (Bilbao, 1976) is a Doctor in Artistic Research from the University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU). She has worked in the culture sector since 2000 as a curator and project coordinator, especially in the field of experimental arts and the crossovers between cultural practice and technoscience.
Maral Kekejian has been the artistic director of Veranos de la Villa in Madrid since 2016. Artistic director of the Christmas Campaign / Three Wise Men Cavalcade 2015 /16, Madrid. Juan Pablo Ordúñez / MawatreS is a graduate in Fine Arts from the University of the Basque Country. He holds a Master's in Research and Creation in Art and is doing a doctoral thesis on artistic intervention as a means of constructing the public sphere. He combines his artistic practice with mediation and curating projects, as well as a post as guest lecturer in the Master's Course of Contemporary, Performative and Technological Art of the UPV-EHU.
