In the foothills of the Pyrenees mountain range in Navarre, in the 1990s the new reservoir at Itoiz flooded seven villages and three nature reserves. Nowadays, a strip of bare earth 592 metres above sea level traces a dividing line in the valley’s landscape. Below that, water; above, life goes on as usual.
Two decades ago the new reservoir at Itoiz flooded seven villages and three nature reserves in the foothills of the Pyrenees in Navarre. The environmental group Solidari@s con Itoiz documented the fight against its construction on video, and nowadays those who were there at the time still dream about the land under the water.
A filmmaker, Maddi graduated in Audiovisual Communication and holds a Master’s in Visual Anthropology from Manchester University. Her work has competed in festivals such as Punto de Vista, San Sebastián, Curtocircuito, Alcances and Porto Post Doc, among others. In 2019 she won the X-FILMS section in the Punto de Vista festival with "Rojo".
